High Expectations
One of the more exciting things to look forward to in the upcoming November elections is the outcome over Nevada’s Question 7. The initiative would allow adults to purchase and possess a regulated amount of marijuana from stores, with tax revenue earmarked for alcohol and drug treatment and education purposes. Campaigns for and against the initiative have ramped up efforts recently.
Latest poll results from the Las Vegas Sun however indicate that a majority of Nevadans are opposed to the measure:
Question 7, which would allow adults 21 and over to possess up to an ounce of marijuana, found support from 42 percent of voters, 51 percent were opposed and 7 percent were undecided.
Yesterday, a coalition of religious clergy endorsed the initiative.

Where will all the lefties be saying how wacked out the religious are? Oh, that’s right, they won’t say anything.

I really don’t get this. Like the medical marijuana laws, won’t this just be overturned as against federal law?
I hope it passes. Dealers have long been making money that should be going- in the form of taxes- to the government.

Yeah I think there will be a federal/state conflict of laws. I hope it passes too. Makes sense from a policy perspective in my opinion. I wonder why its always Nevada that pushes these initiatives. I’d think Oregon, Washington or Vermont would be more friendly to broad legalization efforts.
