Looks like we’re still in Kansas.

Could somebody parse this sentence for me?

The board’s 6-4 vote, expected for months, was a victory for intelligent design advocates who helped draft the standards and argued the changes would make teaching about evolution more balanced and expose studels teach science.

The end of that sentence makes about as much sense as the board’s decision.

Does anyone else remember the book “Lord of the Flies”?  There’s one great scene where all of the scared children are holding a town-hall meeting to address the ‘monsters’ on the island.  An argument breaks out about whether or not the monsters exist, and someone (remember all the characters are CHILDREN) recommends putting it to a vote.  To paraphrase the response of the hero of the story, “You can’t vote on the monsters, they either exist or they don’t.  You’re vote won’t matter.” Someone should tell Kansas that there either is or is not evolution, and they should teach the truth (or at least science’s best guess at the truth).

Ah, sorry. Aguilar is a famous establishment clause case. Steve-O, Mr. Wilson and others likely know about it.

Don’t worry, beerorkid. Lots of things Mr. T says make the rest of us confused. You’ll get used to it.
