I’ve really enjoyed the level of competition I’ve seen so far. As a referee I’ve been paying particular attention to the officiating. With the exception of the referee on this morning’s SM/Netherlands match, I’ve been pleased.
I mostly agree with your bests and worsts. Hislop had a hell of a game for T&T;.
Now I’m just ticked that I’ll miss the U.S. match tomorrow. I’ll be on a plane :-(

Hislop’s performance is the performance of the tournament so far. It was pretty amazing for him to come out on last minute’s notice, making his WC debut at age 37, to have the type of game he had.
I agree with your Best Team Play award above, but I’d fit Argentina in there as well. They were just as possessive and powerful as Holland was today. Worst team play has to go to Poland, with England and Paraguay as close runners up. That ENG/PAR Saturday was painful to watch.
I’ll disagree with your most exciting game. The GER/CSC game was the most exciting for me. You had plenty of scoring (two goals which will be in the top 10 of the tournament), and it was just a very entertaining match.<br .>
Cange didn’t get the “It’s not 2002” memo. That is the hairdo that everyone from Ronaldo to Clint Mathis had last tournament, so having it this time around is kind of like going to college with a Trapper Keeper.

Talk about bad officiating...it just cost Australia a goal. OK...time to go to work.
