The new “China Wall” restaurant is open and we gave it a try yesterday.  It is the shopping area at 84th and Highway 2 next to Backyard Burgers.

The food was very good but also appears to be the same as Zhangs (West A and Coddington) and Great Wall (70th and Vine).  Does anyone know if this is the same group of folks?  The colors and style of the setup are very similar.

It could be the same style of cooking.  Many Chinese ingredients aren’t available in the United States, too - so there tends to be a kind of “sameness” to many Chinese cafes nationwide.  I would like to see a REAL Sichuan cafe opened in Lincoln that uses Sichuan peppers, and other ingredients that are available here, but seldom used.  It might drive the price up higher (Chinese tend to be pretty cut throat about pricing too, and do not care to price more than their competition), but I would really enjoy to eat the Sichaun style of Chicken Kung Pau, rather than the Americanized version…

There is a good food blog I follow which posted links to some recipes to celebrate the new year. They have one for Szechuan Wok-fried Chicken that sounds pretty good.

Yes! That’s the real deal with the Sichuan peppers.  Looks really good, too.  My wife has some of those peppers, maybe I can fry me up a batch!

Thanks!

There is a place in the highlands that isn’t bad. I believe its called The Great Wall (totally original).
It’s not a place that i would take someone on a first date, but it is a pretty good place to pick up some chinese after work for the fam.
A bit on the pricey side when it comes to chinese food.
If you want a really great chinese place, and you are in omaha, check out Jade Garden off of 120th, i think. That place is amazing.

It has to be more than a coincidence. They have the same chairs, the same menu boards, the same basic set-up. I think they are somehow related, which is good because Zhang’s has some of the best Chinese food in town. My favorite is still the Golden Wok though.
