A while back Mr. T had left a comment on my own site asking about RSS readers.  I was going to post a comment back answering the question.  Then I was gonna do a proper post on the question.  Then I forgot.  Sorry.  Anyway, I don’t know what you’re on, but I’m a Mac user, and my reader of choice is NetNewsWire.  I’ve heard good things about Newsfire, but it never really fit my tastes.  If you’re a Windows user, then I would have to go with NNW’s sister app, Feed Demon, which is similar, but not as nice.  However, neither are free.  Awasu is what I used back in the day, which is free, and is a pretty solid reader for Windows.  Otherwise, I’ve heard Thunderbird’s capabilities for RSS are pretty good too.

Thanks J. As it is now, I think I may stick with bloglines until I have the patience to import all my feeds into another free aggregator. Bloglines has been good to me so far, but for some reason it only picks up summaries and not complete postings from a number of subscriptions (including Lincolnite) when I have the setting set to accept complete posts. As you noted previously, you can pick up entire stories from Lincolnite using your aggregator, so I suspect its not the fault of the feed but the service I am using. If I get fed up, I may move to awasu as you suggest, which looks good.

I am also a rabid podcast lisntener and have 17 subscriptions so far. Despite some minor iTunes grief now and then, its strengths outweigh its weaknesses, so I will stick with iTunes for podcast feeds.

I am totally with you on iTunes for podcasts.  I know a lot of people complain because it doesn’t have this feature or that, but it serves my needs perfectly (except for I wish it wouldn’t stop updating podcasts just because I haven’t listened to one in a while.  Minor complaint though.) As far as full posts, it depends on the blog too, some sites have their RSS feeds to only broadcast summaries.  And I was getting full posts from Lincolnite for a while, but when the redesign went live, it went back to just being headlines for me.  But I live, Lincolnite is a site that is good to visit for what’s there beyond what gets pushed through RSS, such as the forums and whatnot.

Also, importing should be pretty painless, assuming Bloglines makes it so (I’ve never used their service).  Just look for an export feature, that will turn all of your subscriptions into a single .opml or .html file.  Then, open up your news reader app of choice, and look for the import subscriptions button and select that .opml or .html file.  It’s a pretty standardized thing, assuming Bloglines allows you to export your subscriptions.
