What the heck?  What is going on?  I can’t understand the rash of school violence.  Another shooting.

I worry for our teachers.

From what little I have gathered from the news, the Colo shooter was an (obviously deranged) older guy with a deathwish and in Wisc its some kid. Other than the schools connection, doesn’t seem to be much of a pattern. What is striking though is how the Colo shooter got into the place and was able to roam around the halls prior to the shooting.

Obviously, I am out of things a bit when dealing with Lincoln issues, but what has the new LPS director of security been doing?  There are several issues which Mr. Kuhn needs to address in the security of Lincoln’s schools.

Biscut here,
The National Education Association in their school safety release (statistics from the Center for Disease Control), stated that less than 1% of all homicides among school-aged children (5-19 yrs) occur in or around school grounds or on the way to and from school. Wow!!! Maybe we should be looking into our own homes, backyards, and neighborhoods to find the root causes of violence against our youth. Every three hours a child in this country is a victom of a gun related homicide. Yes folks, that translates to over 3,000 a year.
Maybe we should lock the NRA out of our political processes, rather than being forced to padlock our schools. Like to throw out a big dog biscut to someone, but nobody deserves one on this issue.
