Have you ever gone to pick your own Christmas tree? Any farm recommendations?

I’d like to know if anyone has selected and/or cut their own Christmas tree from a tree farm in or around Lincoln. I’ve read that some farms even give you a free pumpkin if you pick out your tree ahead of time. Any tips/ recommendations based on your experience?

Returning to Lincoln…

Well....after being gone from Lincoln since April of this year I am already contemplating returning. Now, I realize and am all too familiar with all the normal reactions to change and especially a geographical change. That said, my move was not entirely of my own doing. Perhaps I will dwell on that a bit more later.

That said...I was hoping for some sort of advice on my predicament or whatever I should call it…

I am currently overseas in a northern European country. I had a job waiting for me when I got over here. I have family around. Yet, I miss Lincoln. Never thought I would but I do. I miss the people as well as places in town. So now I want to go back. Am I nuts?

Place to host a party

Help! I’m looking for a place to host a birthday party for 50. Not for a dinner, but a “reception” style party where I can order some food for everyone (appetizers, pizzas, etc.) or they can order a meal if they want to. Maybe something like Brewsky’s, but they are booked already. Downtown/haymarket preferred. Must have bar and food. Would really like separate room or seating area. I thought Lincoln was full of places like this, but I’m having trouble finding one! Thanks for any suggestions.

Medical Practices in Lincoln

Just had a horrible experience with Nebraska Orthopaedic Center and thought I would see if anyone has anything to say about it.

I am tired of the medical clinic shuffle. As a patient I show up ten minutes early for my appointment. Twenty minutes later they show me to an exam room. Then the first nurse asks me all the same questions they asked the last time I was there which was only a week ago. Then I wait another twenty minutes and stick my head out of the room and ask when the doctor is coming. There is a guy there who says he is the doctors physician assistant and he will be in shortly. He then is offended when I say I have not been waiting this long to see an assistant. Then I wait a while longer and the doctor comes in and says that he won’t see me because I have broken their protocol.

Is anyone else tired of doctors acting like we have no choices. They act like they are paying for my time instead of the other way around.

Are there any Lincoln practices who don’t fit this mold?

I’m looking for recommendations for a caterer for a small event at a house (20 people). Has to be classy, good at presentation, etc (aka, not davinci’s).

Krem Le Bistro is gone

This was news to me, although not all that surprising.

Krem Le Bistro has been closed (who knew?). The Journal Star today has a story explaining that TADA Productions will use the space for its performances.

I’m not sure how they’ll fit two stages in there, but the space may be bigger than I remember.

So… I ordered a One Laptop Per Child XO laptop as part of their “Give one, get one” program. (http://www.laptop.org)

Anyone else? I’d love to get a bunch of people together for mesh network testing.
