What are the odds that we’ll see President Obama in January 2009? I think the best—and just about only—thing I can say about him is that he isn’t any of the other candidates. Weak praise, I know, but in the current climate it’s not out of the question to think it could get him elected.

Has anyone tried this online game?

Beside shooting blood everywhere and doing quests for others, talking to monsters that I’ll never find in real life ... I found this game interesting for surviving ( although are lot’s of topics to be covered ).

A difference from Wikipedia ( you only have content ) this game kind of force you to read about topics / ideas / concepts ( learning without knowing it )

Idea of the game: Win credits for solving questions and use the credits to post your own questions for other users to solve!

Linux geeks?

Since there are other computer related threads in here…

Anyone else made the switch to Linux? I have Ubuntu installed on my “spare” computer (the one we watch TV on) and I love it. I’m going to install a dual boot with Windows on my main computer next. I hope that before XP is obsolete, I can make the switch fully to Linux.

I have been continually surprised at how easy Linux is. I’m not a programmer by any means, and I still get a little nervous when I have to go into the command line, but in all, it’s been a cinch. The one time I screwed up my computer by messing up a video card install, I was able to fix by copying instructions I found on the web. My next step is to learn more about the system so I can make more changes myself.

I’m trying to convert my mom now.

Please don’t tell me I have to note when I’m switching between ‘you’ used in a general sense and ‘you’ used directly. This isn’t the first time you’ve conveniently misinterpreted something I’ve said to help your point.

3) Oh come on, Dave K, are you serious? 12:23pm: “I like and trust Jon Bruning. You clearly don’t. You’re against his advertising because you don’t like him. Are you willing to jeopardize the safety of young children because of your dislike for our Attorney General?”

Prior to her accusing me of using straw man arguments, I had not said she doesn’t like Jon Bruning. However, I don’t think it’s inaccurate to accuse her of disliking Jon Bruning. Afterall, she thinks his public service commercials are ‘political grand-standing’. That’s not something I’d say about someone I liked or had no opinion on.

Jets in Lincoln

Does anyone know what the (at least) 3 fighter jets are doing in Lincoln? They’ve been buzzing around, and I’ve been able to spot them over northwest Lincoln for much of the morning. It just seemed kind of odd.

Firefox 2 and Internet Explorer 7

Having downloaded and installed both Firefox 2.0 and Internet Explorer 7.0, I have a quick recommendation: upgrade to FF2, but skip IE7 for now. FF2 is faster and more stable. The only reason not to upgrade is if you have extensions you can’t live without, because many extensions aren’t compatible with FF2 yet. IE7, on the other hand, was a bit of a disappointment. It’s better than IE6 to be sure, but I think a 7.0.1 might be needed to fix a few quirks.
