Lincolnite.com is slow for me today, and seems to hang when the status is “connecting to metrics.performancing.com” - might just be a one time thing, but I though you’d like to know so you can keep an eye on it.

I have a little suggestion to make, and feel free to disregard it as the ravings of a lunatic. Others might like the forums as they are, I just wanted to throw this out there…

I find that bulletin board systems - especially small ones with relatively few visitors, generally don’t benefit from having a lot of specialized places for topics. It just makes it look like people are not posting. I, personally, don’t mind if the sports topics or the reviews mingle with the more general topics, but I don’t know what others think. I don’t really like having to go to several different forums to read a new post or two in each.

I don’t know that I have any useful suggestions for reorganization, except that the Lincolnite forums might be better combined into one. Perhaps it could be more about meeting others in Lincoln and talking about whatever than talking specifically about Lincoln? I would guess that our common place will always be a focus.

I used to have another forum I visited frequently, until they divided every possible topic up into its own forum. I missed the joy of discovering something by accident.

(ps, I don’t mind having separate forums for website stuff and article discussion, that makes sense to me)

Some of you may have noticed some odd goings-on in the Forums lately. In particular, there are five little stars above each post. If you are logged in, you can rate each post on a 1-5 scale. The feature is part of a project I’m working on for a client. I’d appreciate if you give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

FYI, I don’t plan to keep the rating system around once I wrap up the project for the client. If you want to convince me otherwise, feel free to give it a go.

Mr. Wilson,

I was attempting to change my password (seeing how I had not signed in since oh 2005). I requested a password change, which I was emailed. However, when I went to change my password so it would be one that I could remember I was given this error message:

The form you submitted contained the following errors

    * The username you chose is not available

I did not attempt to change anything other than the password…

Thanks
