Who can listen to that garbage?

Now that the basketball season is over, I need to get something off my chest…

Kent Pavelka needs to go.

Having had to listen to him on the internet was absolutely painful this season.  He’s WAY past his prime.  (He really wasn’t all that good to begin with) THAT’S RIGHT...I SAID IT!

The Husker Sports Network’s hand was forced to let go Randy and bring in Kent, another Steve Pederson flub.  And it was absolutely the worst decision.

Kent whines, Kent complains, Kent is a homer.  Hey Kent, here’s an idea...listen to Greg Sharpe.  You’ll pick up more in one game from Sharpe than you’ll ever learn in a lifetime of broadcasting.

:rantover

P.S. I realize this might have been more effective DURING basketball season...but, oh well.

I agree. All those who keep clamoring for him to be back on football games are forgetting he wasn’t that good. It wasn’t the call of “touch-down, TOM-MIE FRA-ZHAH” that people really loved. It was the actual touchdowns by Tommie Frazier.

I think we have a tendancy to romanticize things from the past, but I distinctly recall that he wasn’t that good. We also didn’t have to listen to him as often, as 8 or 9 games would be on TV.

D.M.B. says I have the DVD of April 3, 2008 at 11:56am

I have the DVD of the 95 Orange Bowl with his radio call and it is almost unlistenable.  The first touchdown he completely botches.  It takes him 10 seconds to realize that he’s yelled out the wrong name who scored the touchdown. (Gillman scored it and forgive me, I don’t remember who he said caught it.)
He was so freaking caught up in the excitement he couldn’t contain himself and he botched the radio call.

And another thing that struck me.  He always bitch and moaned about the “thug” like Miami players.  Yes Kent, it may be true, but don’t say it on the air.  How do we as nebraskans feel when people portray us as hillbilly farming rednecks?

Give it up Kent.
