The Godfather returns

Don Tom Osborne is back.  Today he was named as the interim AD at UNL.

For a short period of time I think this is a good choice.  Make everybody feel good about NU athletics again.  Start the healing process of Husker Nation.

Will Callahan be his first mob hit?
Will he make Bo Pelini an offer he can’t refuse?
Who will be his Consigliere?  And eventually take over the Husker family?

The rumor mill’s answers to your three questions.

Yes, in the next two weeks (after the Texas game).

Pelini’s been contacted already.

Dave Rimington.

My sources tell me Danny Nee is the front-runner for permanent AD.

LOL @ Danny Nee

Gene-I’d heard all those rumors.  And Dave Rimington seems to be the most believable of the 3 at this point of the season.

1) Why after the Texas game?  It seems to be such an arbitrarily picked game.  Were the remaining games placed in a hat and the one picked was the one Callahan was fired after?  If you’re going to fire him do it now or the end of the year.

2) If Pelini has been contacted then it has been through backwards channels.  We would have to get permission to talk directly to Pelini from LSU and that kind of news would have already come out if indeed it already happened.  And who would have contacted him?  TO?  I highly doubt that.  Pearlman?  Even more unlikely than TO.

3) I’m really very indifferent on the possibility of this.  How can someone “inside the family” look at the program objectively.  I really think we need to look outside someone with Nebraska ties to lead the Athletic Dept.
