Simply amazing
There are no more words folks. We are watching the greatest player in the sport of golf...ever. And we could be watching one of if not the greatest athlete of all time.
What this guy has done this weekend is absolutely amazing.
The 18 hole playoff is tomorrow.

This was a thing of beauty. Tiger is definitely the best ever. His first tournament back since The Masters, and the pain in his knee from surgery was definitely noticeable. Yet, the guy pulls through to force a playoff. It’s pretty hard to bet against him when he plays against anybody one on one. I think he’ll pick up another major win tomorrow.
BTW, first time poster, long time reader. This is a great site, and I have enjoyed reading it for several years. I finally decided to register.

I just got done watching the 18-hole and then sudden death playoff. It was pretty fun. Rocco Mediate is a stand-up dude.

I don’t follow golf at all, and I certainly respect Woods, but the greatest athlete of all time? How about Muhammad Ali? Greg LeMond? I just don’t rank Woods up there with the true greats.

Tiger Woods has surpassed the sport of golf. He’s winning major tournaments injured. He makes big play after big play after big play. He is quite possibly the most “clutch” athlete of all time. Surpassing even the great Micheal Jordan. This man seemingly hits every shot that he needs to, to win a tournament.
If you were to redo the sports century list that ESPN did in 1999, he’d have to be in the top 10.

Just to qualify that last comment, what I mean is: I don’t know enough about golf or Woods himself to make me think he is one of the greatest athletes of all time. I don’t dispute the fact that he is a tremendous golfer. I just need someone to make the case that he is indeed one of the greatest athletes of all time.

What he’s on pace to do, with the amount of majors that he’ll probably win, is really astonishing. Muhammad Ali is a good comparison of what kind of athlete he is, someone who’s just bigger than the game he plays.
