It was a good game though. Nail biter. The one thing that stood out to me was...we need a QB who can scramble and run, OR a bigger offensive line. One or the other. Having said that, our guys generally did really well against a great team.

A friend of mine was telling me that if Taylor was behind Texas’ oline, he’d win the heisman. I tend to agree with that.

Does your friend know who Troy Smith is?
Mr. T October 22, 2006 at 4:06pm
I wonder if the Minnesota Vikings were watching the Lucky pass to Swift yesterday. Mewelde Moore just threw a TD to Wiggins against Seattle. Uncannily similar.

Chester Taylor just ran 95 yards for a Viking’s TD. Go Vikes! (ok sorry - this is my last vikes post in a huskers thread)

I guess I don’t follow you Dave K?
Mr. Wilson October 22, 2006 at 6:39pm
Dave is suggesting that Troy Smith is a stronger contender for the Heisman than is Taylor. I haven’t had a chance to watch much football so far this season (boo!), but from what I’ve heard about Troy Smith, Dave is probably right.

what my friend meant was that we have an awful oline and if Taylor was behind an oline like Texas, he’d be a lot better.
Dave K October 22, 2006 at 10:23pm
For starters, Zac Taylor isn’t a contender for Heisman, so I’m not suggesting what Mr. Wilson said. Troy Smith is an amazing quarterback, with insane physical abilities and amazing talent at that position. He has proven this against some great teams. Zac Taylor has had above-average performances against terrible teams this season. Nebraska doesn’t play competition good enough for any of its players to be considered for the Heisman. They aren’t a powerhouse team like they supposedly were when Crouch won it, or when Frazier should have won it. In other words, the assertion that Zac Taylor is only a better O-line away from winning the Heisman is compeltely ridiculous.

I guess what I meant was that if Zac Taylor had a decent oline, that he’d be great. He’s good right now.
It was an over-exageration.
I know Zac isn’t a contender for the heisman.
Mr. Wilson October 23, 2006 at 6:25am
I know Zac isn’t a contender for the heisman.
Perhaps we should put the Ricketts marketing team in charge of promoting him. They’ll whip up a great anti-Troy Smith cartoon in no time.
Dave K October 23, 2006 at 7:39am
Or you can get Nelson’s marketing team to talk about how Troy Smith was selfish in running the ball when he had an open receiver downfield, because that proves that Zac Taylor is a better quarterback than Troy Smith.
