Nebraska to the Big 10
Nebraska is officially a member of the Big 10. Nebraska will join the Big 10 athletically on July 1st, 2011 and academically (I believe) with immediate effect. This is the final year for Nebraska in the Big 12 conference.
Your thoughts?
Over the coming days I’ll go over what this means for Nebraska athletically and how they fit and will compete in the Big 10.

I’m all in favor. Athletically this is a pretty decent move for UNL. Academically, this seems huge. This is a feature in both Harvey’s and Tom’s caps.

Looking forward to making trips down to the Cities to watch the Cornhuskers vs. Gophers.
Beebe should be looking for a new job soon.
Mr. T says No question its great for June 11, 2010 at 9:10pm
No question its great for UNL and Nebraska. What I appreciated from the Regents’ presentation was the inside story. We were faced with a potentially disastrous scenario. We acted early, and intelligently, and capitalized on what could have been a crisis and turned it into a huge win for us. This is great leadership. Not luck, but leadership.
Additionally, kudos needs to go all around to all the great administrators and faculty at UNL who are slowly but surely making UNL a great academic and research institution all around.
As for new athletic competition, I can definitely see a major rivalry starting with my alma mater: the University of Iowa. Woohoo!

I am glad that T.O. and Perlman were at the helm at this instance in time. Excellent work, and huge opportunities in the future.
This news, coupled with the research park, plus the new arena and talk of stadium expansion at Memorial means the University and the Athletics program will be on a great course for the future. That will mean good things for UNL and for our city.
Well done!
