Nebraska-Missouri

Nebraska and Missouri battle in Columbia tonight for the Big 12 lead in volleyball. Missouri comes into the match 12-0 and the #7 team in the country, Nebraska enters as the #1 team in the country and 13-0. This should be one of the better regular season matches of the year for the Huskers but that doesn’t mean that they won’t take it in 3. It’s “can the Huskers” night in Columbia. 2 cans of food will get you in free. Nebraska volleyball fans travel very well and getting in for free might mean a big Nebraska fan base tonight in theHearnes Center.

Missouri can actually thank Nebraska for their rise in college volleyball. Half of the 14 girls on Missouri’s roster hail from the state of Nebraska. Lindsey Hunter hails from HS powerhousePapillion and is the leader of the team. Right behind her is Lincoln native and Christian graduate, Nicole Wilson. These two are very good players and could be in the running for first team Big 12 but coming out of HS they justwern’t good enough to play for Nebraska. Nebraska is a big hot bed of high school volleyball talent and Coach Cook and former coach TerryPettit have said it’s a very good testament to Nebraska volleyball when Nebraska can still recruit the top talent in the state but other D1 schools are picking up many players that Nebraska just doesn’t have the roster space to recruit.

Tonight’s match-up is being televised by Pinnacle sports. Pinnacle is usually a radio only company so it makes you think that they are going to start to dip their feet into the TV arena in the near future.

Nebraska wins the match 3-1.  Missouri is a real good team because all of nebraska’s set wins were tough wins.  And in Mizzou’s set 2 win, they plain pounded the Huskers.  This match will only help the Huskers in the season.  It should be a good match when the Tigers come to town in a little over a month.

Oh good, I was hoping somebody would post something about the volleyball match tonight. I watched games 1 and 2. I thought the Huskers looked pretty awful more often than not. Their blockers weren’t moving very well to stop Mizzou’s attack, while Mizzou’s blockers read the Huskers like a book. But great teams adjust, and that’s exactly what the Huskers were able to do.

Anybody want to caravan down to San Antonio with me?

Come to San Antonio with me, DMB. Cooooooome with me. You know you remember all those good times down on the River Walk. And you know you want to watch the Huskers win a National Championship. There’s no point in resisting.

Now that I’ve said all of that, I suppose I should check my own schedule to make sure I can actually go!
