I’m amazed

I mean, first of all, news flash folks...MISSOURI IS GOOD!  They’re not #11 on name alone.  They probably will have the best non-conference win of every Big 12 team with a season opening victory over Illinois...good lord did I just say that?  Hang on, I’m gonna get that thought of my head by slamming it on the desk.

Nope...its still there.  Damn.  Now I have a headache.

2nd of all, Chase Daniel is a Heisman trophy candidate.  He was a fringe one before the Nebraska game and now Nebraska let him pass his way into the top 5 probably.  The closest thing Nebraska has to a Heisman trophy candidate is Adi Kunalic.  When fans are giving the kickoff guy standing ovations, I seriously don’t know how Adi won’t be invited to NYC and be hoisting that trophy.  I can see the headline on ESPN.com the night before the ceremony “Adi or Chase?”
Also, they might have the two best TE’s in the country.  And they line up like freakin’ WIDE RECEIVERS!!!!

Thirdly, (is that a word?  Ah hell if GW can make up words so can I) people...Missouri has dismantled Nebraska 3 times in a row down there.  2005 Mizzou 41 Nebraska 24 2003 Mizzou 41 Nebraska 24 Wait...is that what you’re mad at?  Is it because Mizzou held up their end of the bargain by scoring 41 points again and Nebraska didn’t score 24?  Is that it?  BTW, my good friend John Bishop correctly picked Mizzou to score 41 and clearly he’s patting himself on the back for it in his Sunday School column.  How is this a surprise people?  Why all the anger?  This is old hat when its Nebraska @ Columbia.  Just like it was for Nebraska at KSU losing in the little apple all 4 times between 98 and 2004.  Only last year did we break the streak.

All kidding aside, I really didn’t think it would get this bad.  Just listening to some of the highlights of Unsportsmanlike Conduct in Omaha...I’m amazed.  Broderick Thomas (who was clearly drunk or acting just as stupid) calling for a clearing of the whole athletic department and putting Dr. Tom in charge.  I mean, you can’t take Broderick too seriously because he says Mike Rozier and Will Shields aren’t allowed in the building.  Uh...Broderick...they were there this year.  In fact, wasn’t Will or Mike honored for something this year at the stadium?  During a game?  Am I imagining that?  Seriously, I could be wrong but I don’t know.

Damon Benning coming on the show and saying that there is distention in the staff and that was one of the reasons for Billy C. for taking his headset off during the game.  But Mr. Benning, Billy C. said in his Monday Big XII conference call that: “I just needed to clear my head and think about some things and really try to evaluate where we’re at offensively, defensively.” He continues: “I just really wanted to get off the lines. There was a lot of chatter on the lines, and I just wanted to clear my head and really isolate myself so I could really see what was going on, so I could digest a lot of things at that particular time.”

God how I would love to hear what 1) was being said on the headsets and 2) what Billy C. was thinking.

I don’t get upset about losses anymore.  I just don’t.  I find that my life is much more enjoyable if I just don’t let them bother me.  Once the calender flips to Sunday, I just let it go.  I let it go.  If people took my approach I really think we wouldn’t have this “split” in Husker Nation.  Its just a game people.  Its not the most important thing in the world, its not the end of the world if we lose a game or two.

Ok to be fair, we should hear from the head honcho himself.  Stevie P....what say you about all this?
