Historical Society official suspected of stealing 70K
In today's Journal Star was this article:
"The Nebraska State Historical Society’s chief financial officer was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stealing more than $70,000 from the organization since 2004."
My question is this. Why does it take THREE years to catch this guy? Do they NOT check the books on a regular basis? Or did this guy hide it that well. I think that any CPA worth his salt would have caught this amount of money early on.
And now he is on "investigatory” PAID leave. Other places would fire you simply because they "SUSPECT" you "MAY" have been stealing. And this guy continues to get a paycheck. And people wonder why tax money in this state is wasted.........
