Bike Paths and Gangs
I was rather irritated by today's Journal Star article.
"Police: Assaults on trails may be gang-related By HILARY KINDSCHUH / Lincoln Journal Star"
Although it was an interesting article it gets under my skin when someone can't post a comment because:
"Publishing opinions about the guilt, innocence or character of the accused in open criminal cases can affect that person's constitutional right to a fair trial. For that reason, JournalStar.com has chosen not to accept user comments on this story."
There are numerous other stories about people being arrested that we get to comment on. I cannot understand where there thinking lies.
In any case, I am an avid bicycle rider (Don't own a car) and ride the paths here in town on an everyday basis. I have seen kids wandering around who would appear to be looking for trouble. But I just continue to ride on by. What in the world is someone, especially a woman, doing out so early in the morning alone??? Usually I see two or three women walking or running together. This is a good idea in this day and age.
But to the kids out there that ARE looking for a "Gang Related initiation". I hope that they will keep this in mind......there are those of us who ride each and every day. And a few of us carry either Pepper Spray or Mace. And that's not a fun thing to have sprayed into your eyes.
