You’re Right, We Shouldn’t Care What He Thinks

This new county jail is starting to look like as big a boondoggle as the LFR firetruck fiasco. Let's run down a partial list: we paid way too much for the land; the location is iffy at best; the projected cost is 50% higher than a new jail in Iowa that is twice as large as our proposal; and today the Journal Star tells us that nobody has bothered to consult the Sheriff, who makes no bones about not liking the plan. Anybody with full confidence in the County Board on this one raise your hand.

When all I saw was your headline—“You’re right, we shouldn’t care what he thinks”—I was hoping you were taking LJS to task for failing to run today’s Bizarro comic.

I can’t seem to find a free link online, but it shows one broomstick-riding witch saying to another: “You think you’ve got problems? I get discriminated against for being a witch AND a lesbian!”

Thanks, LJS. What would we do without those who would save us from speech that *might* offend some of us?

How do we get rid of the “jokes” that are our political “leaders?”  We VOTE them out.
Bad thing is, we don’t know if the new person will be any better.
We NEED non-political people with knowledge of finances, construction bids, construction itself, legal issues pertaining to what’s being planned and these people may need to be retired so they can’t/won’t make decisions that benefir them.
Mr. Wilson, are you willing to run as an average “Joe” who knows the difference between right and wrong to chair some board?

Actually LG, I usually don’t make it to the comics until lunchtime. For those who are interested, here is the offending comic. (But no more comments here, please. Let’s keep this on topic.)

I was shocked to see that Sheriff Wagner (or Chief Casady for that matter) had not been consulted. That makes no sense to me.

They paraphrased a nice comment from Casady had a nice quotation though:
