Tracking Crime

By: Mr. Wilson on February 10, 2009
Chief Tom wishes more Lincolnites would sign up for crime alerts. Far be it from me to disobey the Police Chief. I signed up last night using a 0.2 mile buffer zone around my house. Anything beyond that distance, though close in real terms, doesn't really feel like part of my local neighborhood. I look forward to seeing the first e-mails come in. No, wait. Scratch that. I hope I never receive any alerts.

Its kind of cool to see whats going on around College View and 56th. Glad I moved here. I used to live on 11th and F. Close to DT, some of the people were nice, but some of them, not so much.

Sounds like you’re not too far northeast of me.

I live around the 27th and Pine Lake area. I sign up for the alerts and get about two emails a day.

Sometimes the contrast is funny though; it really shows the diversity of what the police department does (as well as how frivilous some of the claims are)

One day I got an email with two entries:
1. A man beat his wife, left bruises and cut marks
2. A hoddie got stolen from an OPEN locker at southwest high…

I get ALOT of southwest police reports on the alerts…most of them could be stopped with this piece of advise…please share with the high school students you know.

“Put a lock on your dang lockers so the Police can be out there stopping actual crime”
