Tis the Season (For Hot Chocolate)

By: Mr. Wilson on November 30, 2010
Are there any places in Lincoln that make an awesome hot chocolate? I'm generally not a hot chocolate drinker -- I'll take my chocolaty beverages in the form of a milkshake, thanks -- but after spending a few minutes outside this morning, hot chocolate sounds really good. So which outfits do it the best?

My favorite mix is the Mannheim Steamroller Cinnamon Hot Chocolate (Chip Davis’ original recipe).

If I’m lucky, Santa leaves some in my stocking - but I recently saw it on the shelf at the Saucy Cook (70th & Van Dorn)

I’m a coffee drinker myself, but the lady of the house says The Mill is her favorite. I’ve had a few sips…good stuff!

You’ll all shake your head at me and look at me with scorn, but…

I would most gladly take a cup of hot chocolate out of the Ronnoco drink dispenser at Roc’s convenience store long before I’d drink the stuff at The Mill or Starbucks or any of the “fancy” places.

I do long for the days of Garden Cafe hot chocolate. They knew how to do it right.

The Amigo’s on Q Street near 14th Street and City Campus, which swallowed the defunct Kopeli Coffee next door, has decent hot choc.  They still sell the same coffee drinks that Kopeli did.
