Three Fifty

Well, folks, gas prices have hopped right on past the $3.50 mark. A couple years ago I predicted that $3.50 would be the "magic number" that would get people to cut back. I was wrong. Then again, that was back when the dollar was worth something. I hesitate to guess what the "magic number" is now. Actually, I'm not convinced there is a magic number at all. Besides, it's not like anybody goes anywhere these days. They're all inside playing video games.

tips for buying gas.
1. try to fill up in the morning if at all possible. Gas volume fluctuates with temperature, and so in the AM it is going to be at its densest and you will get the most gas for the money.

2. try to fill up on mondays, tuesdays, and wednesdays. Gas price hikes occur more often on the weekend, and price drops occur more often on sundays and mondays.

3. fill up before you need to. This gives you some freedom in choosing where and when to buy gas.

i’m not sure. I do a lot of reading on various websites about getting high gas mileage, and it’s a pretty common thing. i’ve seen a few people discuss the science behind gas and it’s fluctuations, but it’s a little over my head. also, they usually don’t change prices in the morning, so it might help you get cheaper gas anyways.

Gas is stored well below the surface and temperature fluctuations are extremely minimal between morning and afternoon.
