The Coolest Thing You’ll See This Summer

By: Mr. Wilson on May 14, 2010
I can't imagine how difficult it is to make plans for the arrival of hundreds of airplanes at 90 second intervals throughout the day. But that's what will happen come July. The Lincoln Airport will see more traffic in one week than it normally sees in a year. (Actually I just made that up. I wonder how far from the truth it is?) It'll be interesting to see how many Lincolnites camp out at the airport to watch all the planes arrive. I wouldn't be surprised to see a line of lawn chairs all around the airport fence. Heck, we may be among them. Robbie will think it's awesome so I'm sure we'll take him out there for a little while. It's too bad the visitors' first impression of Lincoln is that chunk of Cornhusker. Can you imagine what you would think of this town if your first meal were at Great Scott's Food Court? Frightening.

I concur! The idea of Great Scott’s was not bad in the beginning. Plus, it’s a nice building, but I don’t get the whole castle vibe. Once the original owners sold it, it went downhill (in my opinion). It only took one visit for me to decide there was no need to go back there again.

When I worked for a Lincoln company that was based in Arkansas, visiting executives’ first impression involved a lot of Cornhusker talk. They often took Cornhusker Highway to get to the Cornhusker Hotel. They thought we were hicks.

The joke was on them, though. They were from Arkansas.

That’s hilarious, because my first official meal after moving to LNK *WAS* at Great Scott’s Food Court! Luckily I had visited a few times before and knew a little about the town, because even with that knowledge, I was depressed eating there.
