Play Ball!

Summertime is almost here, and that means there’s a very good chance you will soon find yourself on one of Lincoln’s many baseball and softball fields. Can you identify these ten ball fields?

5.Actually called Elks Field?
3. Is that the field at the South End of Woods Park

West A Dad says RE: One More Thing May 15, 2009 at 10:01am

I think you’re right. #3 is Woods.

Where is Doris Bair?  I don’t recognize the name.

Mr. Wilson says RE: One More Thing May 15, 2009 at 10:15am

Doris Bair is a softball complex located just north of 48th and Superior. It’s not a location you’re likely to stumble across on accident.

5. Correct!
3. Half credit. What is it called?

Moses says RE: One More Thing May 15, 2009 at 10:53am

Didn’t there used to be a strip club on that stretch of North 48th?

We’re almost there, folks. We just need #7 and a correct name for #3. The latter is pretty easy; the former, not so much.

But, a young man who works for me says that 7 is Southeast High.  Still don’t know the name of the field at Woods Park.

The young man is very wise! #7 is indeed a photo of the fields at Lincoln Southeast High School.

West A Dad says #3 May 15, 2009 at 3:17pm

Nebraska Wesleyan Field? Although I thought it was a Kiwanis field.

Mr. Wilson says RE: #3 May 15, 2009 at 3:27pm

As far as I can tell, it is called Nebraska Wesleyan Field at the Kiwanis Baseball Complex. That’s from here. I have always known it as Kiwanis Field for all non-NWU baseball purposes.

...And that means all 10 fields/complexes have been identified. Good work, everyone!

I appreciated seeing something I recognized.  I always look at Mr. T’s photos and have absolutely no idea....

Regretfully, I didn’t spot this entry until today.  Very cool idea for a puzzle!
