Oso Too?
It’s rumor time, boys and girls. A little bird tells me that Oso Burrito might be looking to add a second location, perhaps on Lincoln’s south side. If it’s true, it’s a big win for local restaurateur Nader Sepahpur. Stay tuned…

That would be awesome! I have a choice, I’d go local over a franchise restaurant any day.

Oh man second the awesome.
We ride all of wilderness, go to oso, and then ride wilderness again sometimes.
Now if we could cut out of wilderness at the end and grab some oso that would be awesome.

I know I’ll probably be crucified for saying this, but I have to get this off my chest:
I like Chipotle burritos better than those from Oso. Oso burritos are quite tasty, to be sure, but I think Chipotle’s are tastier.
Discuss.
Mr. Wilson May 25, 2006 at 1:37pm
At one point I too preferred Chipotle. But a couple things make me prefer Oso these days: it’s local; they have a bigger selection; and Oso tastes better. That last item, of course, depends on your taste buds and on the item(s) you choose to order. For example, I prefer Chipotle’s chicken burritos over Oso’s, but I never order the plain chicken at Oso; instead, I go for the jerk chicken (Tuesdays) or honey-stung chicken (Thursdays).
So don’t worry, Swid, I won’t crucify you (though others might). I may have to work on converting you, though…

get a rope........
Tried chipolte once cuz my dad wanted to try it. meh.... just cant digest it knowing OSO is local and so dam good.
I love the fish taco’s. I was petrified when I heard of them. The lifepartner just sticks her tongue out and squints when I mention them. Me mommy says O.......K....? Someone dared me and I freaking dream about them nightly now. Something about the caabbage water drippin down the arm and the chipolte sour cream mmmmmmmmm.............
It is one of those places where you can eat there 3 days a week for a year and never tire of it. Now that the missus and I have same schedules I pedal my ass home for wunch and eat with her. I still hit OSO at least once a week fer fish taco’s though.

Heh, I can deal with merely being lynched instead of being crucified…
My major stumbling block to everlasting Oso love is that I’ve yet to find something there that I like as much as Chipotle’s barbacoa burritos. Like you guys, the local ownership factor is definitely a plus; unlike you, the wider selection at Oso doesn’t do much for me...for me, the only proper burrito is a beef burrito.
In any case, my love for big-ass burritos has led me to develop my own burrito recipe; I’ll post it on my blog in near future.

Can’t wait to read your burrito recipe.
I have to confess that I love Chipotle’s chicken (thanks for leading the way Swid). Something about the grill/seasoning/marinade. That said, I’ve found that lately I have either become de-senstitized to it or it isn’t as good.
Some of my friends and all of family can’t often be swayed to Oso, so I had to find something at Chipotle that I like. (That’s an excuse, not a defense.)

As promised (albeit a bit late), here’s my burrito recipe: http://www.nebraskaroads.com/blog/2006/06/chez-swid.html

You know, another reason why Oso may be better than Chipotle is that - at least during the lunch hour - Chipotle is loud as hell. Its a deafening cacophony in there.
Reading this is making me hungry. Thanks for the recipe Swid!
foxspit June 7, 2006 at 8:11am
Mr. T, you raise an interesting topic. Why is is that new restaurants all build with the open-ceiling approach? To answer my own questions, I realize it is economical and trendy. However, that design makes restaurants SO loud!
Noise pollution is one of my pet peeves, especially when steps can be taken to reduce the problem.

I say use the bodies of all the feral cats here in lincoln as a sound asorbing layer
srry I just hate outdoor cats
Mr. Wilson June 7, 2006 at 8:26am
Hmm, a cat infestation and a burrito recipe in the same thread? Problem, meet solution; solution, meet problem.
Let me know how that works out for you.
Barbara June 7, 2006 at 10:08am
Mmmm - Oso!! I almost always get the Thai Peanut burrito with the tofu mix, and a squeeze of lime. *drool*

today is pay day, whis is cool. But I love pay days for one special reason. I am headed down to the monkey wrench to put down more money for my dream bike, and then headed to OSO for fish tacos.
