Well, the net result was really only $7 million, give or take.

I know Foley’s not the most popular guy around these parts, but hasn’t he been a pretty good auditor?

Imagine a company with accountants so incompetent, they screwed up $45 million one way, and $52 million the other. Sure, the net is “only” $7 million, but I can’t imagine any shareholders being willing to forget about the other $90 million worth of incompetence.

As for Foley, it seems to me like he’s been catching a lot of this sort of thing. I don’t know much about auditing so I can’t really say where he rates. But it seems to me like he’s doing something right. Based on the little I know about him, I’d vote for him.

I concur. Despite what people think of him or his views personally, he seems to be doing an excellent job in this position.

Mr. W., I was of course jesting. I can’t fathom numbers being that far off in either direction. I imagine the employees in question will blame the Feds for having hard-to-read or hard-to-comprehend rules, but seriously… this is stunning.

I was serious about Foley catching a lot of this kind of thing. Methinks he’ll leave no stone unturned in his reign.

Foley has been fantastic.  I would vote for again, without question.

A lot of people need to be fired for this screw-up.  Let’s hope there’s a Colleen Seng at the fed level who will forgive the money we may owe.

I was reading this article and trying to understand exactly what the DOL was doing, but I don’t think there’s enough information there. I might contact Foley’s office to see if I can get a better understanding.
