Whodathunk Nebraska would be in the top 10 among states when it comes to residents ditching landlines in favor of cell phones? Certainly not me. I would have expected that our conservative nature would hold us back. Silly me.
The Missus and I have discussed dropping our landline, but making the switch to cell-only will be difficult. Have you thought lately about just how many people need to be told you've changed your phone number? Oodles. It can seem overwhelming. A few other factors hold me back. For example, I like being able to give out a single number by which people can reach my family. Having to give out multiple numbers so people can reach The Wilsons is annoying.
How many of you are already cell-only? Do you miss any of the benefits of having a landline?

Have not had a land line for about 7 years now. Only thing I miss is telemarketers. I am so lonely :(
To me it seems land lines are a luxury item with limited use. Kind of like a gold toilet brush you would never use. Or a lexus you only drive to your parents house.
With the ease of porting phone numbers these days it might be easier to port your land line number to one of your cell phones with a number that is not known by many.
I’m surprised, because Nebraska has among the highest cell phone taxes.
We ditched the landline a few years back.
No land line here. Haven’t had one for several years.
The only person in my family who has a landline now is my grandmother .. and that is only because she lives in the country where Time Warner is not at and needs the landline for her internet 😉
Haven’t had a landline since I moved out of the dorms in college. No need to add another $20 ($140 per year) bill for something I don’t need. When my wife and give out our phone numbers it’s usually the number of the person they would be more likely to call. Some people have both numbers, and I could care less if I got a call for her on “my” phone. Telling people that you’ve changed your number is a minor inconvenience compared to spending money on something that isn’t used.
The only thing I do miss is the clarity of a landline.
i haven’t had a landline in almost 7 yrs myself. and there’s nothing about them that i miss. i think it’s much easier to carry a cell phone; if you don’t want it with you while out to dinner, just leave it in the car. it’s easily turned off w/o actually missing calls—the voicemail still takes messages—plus you can screen calls. in this day and age, im surprised there hasn’t been a “ban” on landlines LOL!
Can’t think of anything I miss by not having a landline.
