A Lincolnite was shot and killed around 12:30a.m. this morning. Robert Herndon was murdered by two men who had come to his house, but it is not clear if Herndon knew the men. Herndon’s girlfriend witnessed the murder.

Often these situations involve gang activity or a drug deal gone wrong. So far no motive has been suggested.

This was from trusting the wrong people.  He had no gang involvement. That was not his girlfriend either.

I can’t say one way or the other on the gang angle. It was just a hunch I had at the time consistent with these types of tragedies.

However the Journal Star disagrees with you regarding the girlfriend, as does my source who is an acquaintance of the young woman. Not that it matters what her relationship was. The important part is that the poor woman had to witness a murder. Girlfriend or not, that’s still traumatizing as hell.
