Meet the Candidates

By: Mr. Wilson on March 13, 2009
Several City Council candidates attended a forum yesterday. Here are my impressions based only on the little I know about them: Ken Svoboda: The Thomas Magnum look-alike who dances like MC Hammer and whose home is filled with dead houseplants. John Haltom: The Hugh Hefner wanna-be who walks with a cocky gait and answers questions with a confident "Daaamn right". Gene Carroll: The bookish one who never met a Chris Beutler idea he didn't like. Adam Hornung: The small-town boy slash Hollywood lawyer who came to Lincoln to film a pilot for a new reality show. Jayne Snyder: The perky fitness guru who always wears sweats and can't stop jogging in place. Toberlin Burger: The unemployed guy with the rumpled clothes who just really needs a job. Jane Kinsey: The pessimist who dresses her kids in bubble wrap and whose dog is named Eeyore. Erin Pierson: The staunch oppositionist who, like a political Bob Kelso, can't say "No" enough. Come on, Neal, I just know you can turn this into a rockin' graphic voter education guide!

John Halton: The guy who got kicked off the ballot for having a felony conviction.

Im Erin Pierson I would never vote to use public funding to build anything the city wouldn’t profit from. When we use city money we lose out on the money for essential services so we need to hold the line on wasteful spending, If you want to call me Dr.No than I’m Dr.No because I can’t say yes to everything. We need to make lincoln an attractive yet affordable place to live by doing what we can afford to do.

This story touched me a local women working at a sandwich shop wants to be the voice of the citizens of lincoln Nebraska during these tough economic times Erin Pierson 26yrs old could be the first African American candidate to be elected to city Council of Nebraska that in itself is an inspiration but for her to care so much and take on the local government is empowerment for all women no matter the race.

Wasn’t Jerry Shoecraft on the Council back in the 90’s?

I believe so and know that you mention that I think someone else also had a district seat for a while. she is the youngest at 26 I think she has a lot to
say and in doing so she gets choked up from the level of compassion for making a difference and being the quiet voice of lincoln but at the same time shes surprising define any candidates words and you can get to the root of the issue.

I have known Erin personally for about 9 years now. We are great friends, and I can say from experience, that we do not agree on everything. But she has a great hunger for public service. She always thinks of others before herself, and she holds the public’s best interest at heart. And you can tell that she has the will to serve to throw herself into the race and run with so many other well-connected, and well-financed candidates who plaster the city with signs with their names on it. She goes door to door on her own with her own fliers to actually meet the electorate and introduce herself. She has no political obligations, nor special interest obligations. That’s what we need for the city. Don’t forget to vote for Erin Pierson on April 7th!!!!

Don’t forget Annette McRoy! She served Lincoln well, from May 1999 to May 2007
