... if it were 2011. The Board of Education finally approved a calendar that ends the school year before Memorial Day. That means May 27, 2011 will be the last day of school for my niece the first grader.
Still no progress on getting first semester to end before the new year, though. Some day. Some day.

I am certainly glad they got this accomplished. I think it’s good to synch up with UNL Spring Break as well. I really don’t understand the fuss about ending the semester before the New Year. When I grew up (long ago in a galaxy far away) I usually had Christmas break for 2 weeks, then 2 more weeks of the previous semester (although we actually ran in quarters). Seemed fine by me.
It seems like, you know, in 2009, we might have Air Conditioning by now. But you know, it was only invented in 1902 and only became widely popular about 60 year ago…I guess LPS can wait a few more decades…
