It’s Like a Local Version of Where’s Waldo
Quick, see if you can identify everybody in today’s cartoon by Neal Obermeyer. (As of 8:00am it isn’t online. Hopefully it will be soon.) I recognize several local, umm, “characters”.
Edited: You can see the cartoon at Neal Obermeyer’s website.

that was a pretty funny one. It is on NEALO.
I will grab the easy one, former Mayor Seng. I wanna know who the guy in the “N” hat is. He usually pretty funny.

I spy Paul Fell in the corner, and Ben Nelson (?) on the edge.

I’m the waiter!
I think I see Shoecraft, Solich, Seng, Svoboda, Gourley?.

jwiltshire - you’re right, and I apologize for that Ben Nelson. I thought he’d get cut off in the cropping, so I didn’t spend much time on him. Hopefully the hair was enough.
West A Dad - yes on Solich and Seng; no on Shoecraft, Svoboda and Gourley.

And to save from too much frustration, the lower left table is my parents, my wife and I. I wasn’t able to take my parents out for their anniversary so I told them I’d take them to dinner in this cartoon.
A lot of the other characters are callbacks to Daily Nebraskan cartoons, but not all. I wouldn’t expect anyone to be able to get all of them.

Young E. Chambers? Sorry about calling your Mom Gourley.
The Nelson table has me stumped. The dude with hair is Chris Isaak to me but I know that’s wrong.

This is part of why I don’t think anyone will get all of them --
When I mentioned to my editor that I was going to draw a few familiar faces in the restaurant crowd, he requested Elvis. I started drawing Young Elvis, but to me it started looking like Morrissey. So I decided to make him kind of an ambiguous rockabilly-esque character, so that my editor could see Elvis and Morrissey fans could see Morrissey and perhaps even Chris Isaak fans could see Chris Isaak.
He’s ultimately just a generic guy with tall hair and sideburns.

No, it’s definitely Luke Perry.

Sideshow Luke Perry?

Is the big guy holding a monkey, or is the monkey just on his shirt?

Who is the big guy with the Fro Wifebeater and a Tie?
