How very mature of you.

As reported today in the LJS: Ten days after the May 3 election, the chairman of the Lancaster County Republican Party sent an e-mail to ousted City Councilman Terry Werner in which he taunted Werner for losing his council seat and said "having a private eye follow you was a joy." Haga's e-mail read, in part: "Let this be a wakeup call to you. The voters of Lincoln wisely rejected your socialist agenda. If needed, we could have addressed your driving record (having a private eye follow you was a joy), . . . and more. Had you been a good Democrat and not a socialist, you might have been re-elected." Chairman Jim Haga acknowledged to a reporter Tuesday he wrote the e-mail "in anger" but said he regretted it. Haga declined to comment on whether he hired an investigator, saying, "I'm not going to address that . . . To me it's not even a news story." He later told a Journal Star editor that he didn't hire a private investigator. What an idiot.

Thanks for posting this. I didn’t get a chance to do it earlier today.

It is easy, in situations like this, to say uncreative things like “See! This is so typical of partisan politics these days!” The blogosphere is chock full of that type of “analysis” (heh) when these things happen. It is not really analysis at all.

In this case, however, I think that sort of knee-jerk reaction might be appropriate. This really is what partisan politics is like in Lincoln. We have Scott Stewart (what an idiot) throwing money at Lincoln’s pinko commies; we’ve got Terry Werner and his minions ranting about the impending global assault by the religious right; we’ve got the happy hypocritcal fence-sitters flip-flopping on every major issue (“We need more roads! Don’t widen 27th Street!”). Ours is a very confused community right now.

It’s really depressing just how unsurprising Haga’s e-mail is. But damn, but a frickin’ retard.

(Can I say that? I’m a child of the 80’s, things like that just pop out now and then.)

I think the real story is…he must have had one or two drinks when he shot that email off. What was he thinking? That it wouldn’t end up front page above the fold?

And this clown is a party chairman? Damn…More ammo for Lincoln’s pinko commies I guess.
