Hot Beef

By: Mr. Wilson on May 26, 2006
Thanks to Jack Jackson and his commenters I developed a hankering for a hot beef sandwich today. When my dad called to see if I wanted to eat dinner with him and my mom, I knew just where to suggest: Stauffer's. I had never been to Stauffer's for dinner before, but I've heard enough positive remarks about it that I had to try it out. Stauffer's exterior The hot beef sandwich was tasty. I like skins in my mashed potatoes, and I like my beef gravy a little thicker, but overall I was pleased. It was a nice meal served in a nice, small town-style atmosphere, complete with those yellowed water glasses every small town cafe has to have. You know I went there with my grandparents prior to my last TDY and the chicken salad sandwich was nothing but mayo and I thought it was nasty… perhaps this is one of those places you have to go for the big nasty meal… (Steak potatoes)

That Jackson post is killing me too.

I’ve got at least 3 hot beef joints within 5 minutes of me so I’m pretty sure I’ll be hitting on within the next few days.  Most likely it’ll be The Pantry since I can walk there in a couple of minutes.

Interesting. I’ve noticed that the majority of your blog post titles recently could also double as porno video captions. Not that that’s bad or anything.

But seriously, that photo makes your meal looks darn tasty. I can see the clues now: a trail of gravy drippings, used napkins, and pieces of cooked roast beef. Ahhh….

Funny, Mr. T.  The double-entendre title is what I’m starting to go for on eatininlincoln, too.  I agree that the photo is hot, but I question the second layer of bread since my experience with hot beef entails the mashed potatoes taking the place of that bread instead.

the missus freaking loves the hot beef (he he) there.  We go there often.

They used to have the absolute best bacon cheeseburger in town.  That was when they still made their own patties.  Well times are a changing.  Still love the CFS though.  (chicken fried steak)

Oh yeah!  That’s the stuff!!!

I’m tellin’ ya- you gotta try one with fries and gravy replacing the mashed potatoes.

Dang, now I want to lunch at Stauffer’s…..
