High Water
I joined my family out at Mahoney State Park last night where, to close the evening, we scaled the tower overlooking the Platte River valley. It’s not often you see nary a single sand bar in the Platte River.
As I thought about all the towns across Nebraska bailing out right now, I got to thinking about Lincoln’s current water status. We’ve had some rain, but so far we seem to have avoided any major flooding issues. Even my basement is sitting dry. (Knock on wood! Knock on wood!)
Have you faced any flooding problems yet in your neck of the woods? Have any creeks misbehaved or basements gotten soggy?

We are still in tip top shape, thank God! I did notice yesterday that Salt Creek was quite full as I drove down West O Street. Full enough that a real gully washer might cause it to flood.

Is not a beach right now. Water is up to the bridge.

I am fortunate enough to pay for flood insurance. I have been wondering how the salt creek was doing for the past few days and your post freaked me out. I went to check it out over lunch and although high, it is still below the lower edge.
June of 08 it was scary high. There is an nice little trail that goes under the railroad tracks and the drains started backing up.

I too saw the Platte the other day and was amazed to see no sand bars. I’m trying to think if I’ve EVER seen it that way.
