Go Wide!

By: Mr. Wilson on June 16, 2009
Channel 10/11 is now broadcasting its newscasts in widescreen, making it the first "in the market" to do so. Not that it matters to a dinosaur like me. A fancy-pants widescreen HDTV is still an item of the future as far as The Wilsons are concerned. Still, it's good to see continued progress in moving television forward. Onward and upward to 4K!

I think it is awesome. I did something last night that I almost never have done, particularly since KLKN signed on. I watched the 10/11 News at 6. And again at 10. I think it would be helpful to wake up John Vanderford from his coma prior to the telecasts, but having said that, it was glorious on my 57” HDTV. The weather graphics are amazing. I stayed tuned in during the evening to watch the severe coverage, which now wins by a mile.

I am not the biggest 10/11 fan in the world, but this is huge. So huge I even gave them props on the LJS comments section.

More amazingly, they beat WOWT and KETV and everyone else in Omaha to the punch.  The folks at 10/11 should be proud and I hope this is just the beginning of making use of the screen. KLKN - wake up and get yours done, too. Your picture looks brutal and your graphics look even more outdated than before when compared to the new and improved 10/11.

As for the Wilsons - get yourself a widescreen TV. You’ll be amazed and wonder why you waited so long.

I thought I’d jump in on this. As a former 10/11 employee, i never thought it would come this quick. And to echo what Fletch said, they beat not only 8 to the punch (not really all that difficult) but they beat the big boys in Omaha in the race.

Kudos to my former co-workers at 10/11 and I can’t wait to see it.
