I feel your pain. Better start looking around for the next technique, before the Bangladeshi captcha-solving sweatshops, or the pr0n-for-captcha-solution sites (which put me in mind of the experimental rat with the electrodes implanted in its pleasure center, pushing the button over and over until it starves to death) roll out in force.
If you find anything good, let me know. I fear that the ultimate solution may simply be required registration.

I remember seeing a captcha based on picking out the cute animals in amongst the not cute animals. That seems the way to go to me.
