Cold Chicken Evolution
I have really grown to enjoy Roost, so I was awfully intrigued when earlier this morning I received an e-mail announcing Roost’s new noodle bowls. They’re so new, they’re not even on the menu (PDF). It’s yet another step in the restaurant’s interesting evolution as it tries to stay relevant in the competitive downtown dining market. Roost began with pretty much one thing on the menu: cold diced chicken. Now they offer cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, salads, soups, and apparently as of today, noodle bowls.
Please let us know if you give the noodle bowls a try!

I thought the roost was good too, but their sandwiches were too small for the price. Perhaps I’ll go back and try the noodles, sounds like a good idea for winter.

I got this email too and am already planning a Monday lunch trip there (state employee = Columbus day off). Looks yummy!

Mine was pretty good. A little underseasoned, I thought, but I ordered a fairly plain one--the “Cheesy Cheese.” A little salt and pepper perked it right up. I would have gone with a marinara, but that’s what I’m making for supper tonight.
SG says I tried the Vodka Noodle October 8, 2008 at 5:12pm
I tried the Vodka Noodle dish and it was delicious but I felt the added chicken could have been a bit more generous for the price. I am curious about the other flavors of noodles and will probably explore more on a cold winter day, but I just can’t get enough of that High Plains Hero!

I am a big chicken sandwich fan and am looking forward to eating here the next time I’m in Lincoln.

I’ve always been a fan of The Roost. At first I was a little shocked that the sandwiches were so small, but they have made them bigger since then.
