Christmas Causes

By: Mr. Wilson on November 29, 2012
This is, of course, the time of year that many folks get involved in all kinds of extra charity work. I've already gotten into the spirit a bit via some donations of used kid stuff, and our family has more activities on our plate: some stuff for Foster Care Closet; loading and unloading donated gifts for City Impact; and The Missus and the Young 'Uns are ringing bells for Salvation Army. I'm sure many of you have your own causes you're supporting this winter, and others of you are probably looking for some opportunities. What are you involved in as we approach the holiday season? What opportunities would you like to plug?

I would like to mention that Star City Scene is holding the annual Christmas Ornament Silent Auction on Saturday December 8th from 4:30-8:00ish at Duffy’s tavern. All proceeds will go to help fund the Children’s After School Meal Program at the “F” st Community Center.
This is a very personal cause as I administer the food program.
This year we served on average 30-40 meals to children, M-F evenings for no charge from the Everett and McPhee neighborhoods. It takes about a dollar per meal to fund this program. We have proudly done this without receiving any funds from the City budget for over 10 years now. So come hang out and have a good time for a good cause.
