Capitol City Barber Shop

image Downtown workers, near south residents, and UNL students may already be in the know about the Capitol City Barber Shop on 13th and K streets near the Cornhusker Hotel. The Downtown Lincoln Association recently wrote a nice article about the shop and owner Max Starcic. Max is joined by Dave Kreifels, another barber with over 20 years experience. Rather than a strip mall-type of cookie cutter salon, Capitol City is definitely a traditional, neighborhood Barber Shop that specializes in personalized cuts. Additional services include straight razor shaves, neck shaves, mustache and beard trims, shampoos, grooming and skin care advice, and more. The cost of those services is included with the price of a haircut: $15. Better yet, mention that you read this on Lincolnite, and for the month of March you get an additional 20% off. Capitol City Barber Shop is open M-F, 10 AM - 6 PM and Saturdays 10 AM - 3 PM.

I know that many people are interested to have their hair cut at capitol city barber shop. I think that capitol city barber shop provide quality hair cut to its costumer. I think that I should send my nephew there and have some haircut.

When I moved to Lincoln 6 years ago I left behind the best barber in the Bay Area. I’ve tried no less than 6 barbers in Lincoln but have never found one that fit my needs. This story sparked my interest.

I like the ability to just drop in but most single chair barbers need a appointment. Today after playing hookie from work to take in a Husker game I decided to stop by.

First off, Parking was easy with a few meters in front all open. (they also told me I could get away with using the parking lot across the street)

The look of the place is at the moment a work in progress and you can tell a couple of guys are behind it. It’s very eclectic and a hodgepodge of old but neat stuff.

Dave was my barber and Max had another customer come in at the same time. I had a hat on all day so Dave gave me a shampoo to start and then moved on to do a great haircut. At the end he took the time to do all the finishing touches by trimming my over grown Greek eyebrows and any loose ear hairs. Then he did one of the best straight edge razor neck jobs you can get, without me even feeling a pull from the ultra sharp razor.

It looked like all was done and I started to get up… Dave said, Hold on a moment.
He reached over and got what looked like a 60’s massager. He spent 3 minutes or so working out the tension in my shoulders. WOW!

I was so buttered up I slipped Dave a $20, told him to keep the change and took a card.

My only complaint would be the lack of Credit Card as a payment option but I really wouldn’t expect it in the first place.

Capitol City Barber Shop is one of a kind. I’d recommend trying it out!

Thanks for the nice review Wisco! A straight edge razor neck shave beats a clipper every time.
