Boys and Girls Together, Playing in the Street

August 8, 2007 at 12:30pm By: Mr. Wilson Posted in The Lincolnite Blog

It’s recess day!

Who: You, your co-workers, your dog, and anybody else you can find.
What: Recess!
When: Noon today
Where: 14th and Q, in the former Star Ship 9 location
Why: Who needs a reason for recess?

Come one come all to the First Annual (Monthly? Weekly? Daily?) Lincolnite Recess Extravaganza! Come on out to 14th and Q and have a ball (or a Frisbee) with a bunch of goofy folks from all across Lincoln. Meet Lincolnite regulars like Karin and beerokid while reliving the glory days of your youth. Don’t want to get all sweaty? That’s ok, come and blow bubbles or draw with sidewalk chalk.

Also, don’t forget lunch at Ribfest tomorrow at noon.

See you there!

(Mega bonus points if anybody can identify the reference in the title of this post.)

The asphalt should be really clean after that storm.  They say 88 for a high today, doubt it will get there by noon.

Should be a perfect day for recess.

Mick Jagger and David Bowie?

As long as it’s not pouring it’ll be great.

*looks out window*

Stupid rain.

foxspit August 8, 2007 at 2:18pm

I think BorK got the reference. Good call!

Sarah August 8, 2007 at 2:41pm

Yeah, STUPID RAIN!  :(  I slept in, lulled back to sleep by the pitter-patter of raindrops, after having been up to feed the cat.

I brought my chalk anyway… Hope the sky is done falling by noon.

Karin August 8, 2007 at 2:58pm

If not this week, maybe next Wed. I certainly wouldn’t object to a weekly outing. smile

Karin August 8, 2007 at 3:30pm

oooo, it’s getting lighter!

Mr. Wilson August 8, 2007 at 3:44pm

Mick Jagger and David Bowie?

Hmm, not the reference I was going for. Mine is pretty obscure. I think you have to be a fan of 70’s horn bands to have a shot at it.

Fletch August 8, 2007 at 4:25pm

a Chicago reference? How many other 70’s horn bands were there? LOL I can enver get enough 25 or 6 to 4, and Saturday in The Park - I think it was the Fourth of July

Mr. Wilson August 8, 2007 at 4:26pm

What do we think, folks? Are we still on?

beerorkid August 8, 2007 at 4:28pm

I am in.  Not raining.  Chalk might get a bit messy.

Karin August 8, 2007 at 4:29pm

I’m in. Bringing my umbrella just in case…

Mr. Wilson August 8, 2007 at 4:35pm

Sheesh, I thought it was still raining. My window is covered in condensation so from my chair it looks miserable outside. I just stepped out, and it’s not bad at all. Playtime in 25!

Neal August 8, 2007 at 4:45pm

Somebody take pictures!

beerorkid August 8, 2007 at 4:48pm

I wish Mrs. Gengrich would let us out of homeroom early so we could get more play time wink

I think the pics and vid are gonna be well covered.

Karin August 8, 2007 at 4:49pm

I will!

Dave K August 8, 2007 at 5:27pm

You all look like you’re having so much fun!  I’m sorry I can’t join you.  Please do it again so I can try to be there.  ...and post the pictures (I saw someone with a camera).

Sarah August 8, 2007 at 5:57pm

What a blast!  Thanks for organizing this.  smile

I counted 10 people in attendance, and 6 cameras in use.  For those using Flickr, remember to tag your photos with lincolnrecess.  See you next time!

Mr. T August 8, 2007 at 6:14pm

I came by at 12:40 and you guys must have left by then. :(

Karin August 8, 2007 at 6:46pm

Aww, we had just left. Sarah and I had meetings at 1. (what fun!)

We will definitely do this again, though.

I’ll have my pics (well, mostly Geoff’s pics, but taken with my camera) up tonight.

Christa August 9, 2007 at 2:40am

This definitely needs to be a regular event.  It was so much fun!

My pics are up on my Flickr -
