Booze is OK for Raising Some Bucks

The City Council decided to allow booze at city parks—but only for Parks and Rec fundraisers at a select list of parks. It seems like a reasonable enough decision to me. Many policy decisions regarding alcohol are anything but reasonable.

Wouldn’t it be great if society were mature and responsible enough that we could allow anybody to have a beer along with their picnic lunch?

I like the measured approach. I think the amphitheater in Pioneers Park could host some outdoor concerts if they would sell beer at those events, but I know the council has shot that idea down before.

I’m in favor of starting small though. See how this goes then maybe they’ll consider loosening the reins a little.

That would be nice. Whatever they do needs to be very controlled. Families will stop using parks if alcohol ruins the vibe.

I am 100% SURE the Council will also approve additional funding to parks and rec to cover any costs associated with clean-up, litter, security, and so on. After all, the community is their number one concern.
