Bats in the Belfry

By: Mr. Wilson on August 23, 2007
I love how the LJS picked a menacing pose for their close-up of a bat in an article about bats and rabies. Two bats in Lincoln have positively tested for rabies so far this year. I don't want bats in my house, and I certainly don't blame people for getting nervous when they manage to get inside. But have you ever been near a bat? They're cute little guys. Like little mutant mice. I mean that in a good way, though it doesn't sound real positive, does it?

I like bats. They are really cute- especially the small ones.

Speaking of cute little critters, I saw a little garter snake in my backyard a few days ago. I hope more come. But with all the cats in my neighborhood, I guess it’s no surprise there’s not many around.

Rrrrrrriiiiiiight.

Cute bats and snakes.

I remedy both with either excessive fear or excessive force.

They were just balancing out the liberal agenda of the LJS by using fear, the rights favorite tool 😉

Oh I keeeeed I keeeeed

Karin I can get you a big ol box full of them snakes if you need.  They are all over my yard.  I have been conquering my fear of them by picking them up when I mow to get them out of the way.  Even the big ones.

When I do night rides out at a certain park I get to see bats all the time.  I have bumped into a few.  They love the light on my helmet.  lot softer than you would think they would be.

I like the ones that have the stripes on their wings.  They look like old fighter planes.

You used to be able to see many bats around the south end of Memorial Stadium.  Saw them frequently when I’d go to work with my Dad.
