Bark. Bark. Repeat.
A friendly, neighborly reminder:
Please don’t let your dog bark incessantly. It’s annoying. Yes, even in the middle of the day. You should really ask yourself why your pup feels the need to bark so much. Did you raise it poorly? It’s not too late to remedy that. Is it bored? Find a way to de-bore it.
Be a good neighbor, won’t you?

I’m lookin’ at you, neighbor-within-earshot-of-my-office-window.

I have this same conversation with people all around Lincoln. Apparently there’s at least one of these dog owners on every block. I’m just thankful they’re not right next door to me this time.

Is it just me, or is that the ugliest eye sore ever?

It’s just you. We’ll have to try much, much harder if we want to win the ugliest eyesore crown.
Now eyesore of the year? That one is still in play.

Okay… I can go with Eyesore of the year… it just looks so darn ostentatious and out of place compared to the rest of downtown. I’d love to see something that keeps within the less-new age look of the downtown area…

I seem to remember reading that there’s nothing set in stone about the final look and it may have a totally different look if the vote passes.

It reminds me of the Death Star. I like it.

What is with you Lincolnites? Can you be a little more provencial?!? If this is the opinion of the (presumably) younger, hipper crowd in town then this arena has no hope. Unfortunately, Lincoln really needs this arena and now is the rare window of opportunity to partner with NU on it (which is probably the only way it will fly). I think this rendering (not that it’s set in stone by any means)looks damn cool. I would love to have it. God forbid Lincoln gets a modern, up to date looking public facility. Why be progressive, right?
Sylistically speaking, what would you all prefer? A big, square brick box with colonial columns? I honestly don’t get it. Does everyone think “good architecture” means straight lines, right angles and pointy roofs? The Haymarket is what it is. We cannot make any more “vintage” buildings. Why does everyone think any new buildings have to “conform” to the historic nature of Haymarket? What does that even mean?
I think it sucks to hear so many people bad mouth these initial designs. I bet they would love it down in Austin or other college towns where people “get it.”
Huh? says sorry November 14, 2009 at 9:10pm
Sorry… don’t know how we went from barking dogs to the new arena. I want to commend Mr. W for pointing out one of my biggest “pet” peeves and saying what should go without saying: MUZZLE YOUR DOGS!
