Already?

It seems like the new county jail was just completed, and now plans are already in the works to build a new one. How is it possible that the current jail lasted so little time? And based on its short lifespan, why should we trust the consultants who tells us that a new jail should last until 2025?

And in its shrewd negotiating style, the City has already indicated interest in land on West O Street.  The price of the property probably doubled after this morning’s paper came out.

treating non violent drug offenders with programs like drug courts would be a great step in the right direction.  Benefits are two fold. Firts reduce prison overcrowding, second turning people who need help into productive responsible citizens.

We have a great drug court system here in several counties, unfortunately it is not able to help all those who need it.

So we’re going to build a large downtown arena, an east-south beltway, move the state fair, and a new county jail?  I wonder when Lincoln/Lancaster planners will realize we aren’t a thriving metropolis.
