Deena Winter reports that Talent Plus has resorted to guilt trips in their effort to sway Councilmembers into supporting the company's expansion plans. In addition to a tiny sliver of Holmes Lake Park, their comments indicate they would also like the City to award them a medal and to kiss their feet. Wipe that heroic smirk off your face, TP.
It's annoying that Talent Plus chose to go the "we could have gone elsewhere but we stayed here so you should worship us" route. They have a pretty solid case without having to resort to such a petty tactic. We all know you the company could have gone elsewhere. Some things are more persuasive when they are left unsaid.

I agree - I think I said about them a long time ago in another post that the owner has an ego the size of Texas and was probably disappointed that the city already has a tall, well-known building that resembles a, uh, “male member” - so he had to make that ugly white building instead. HOWEVER - I still stand by my point yesterday that since he’s already built there, we should sell him the land for parking.
Yeah. I could be living in San Francisco. But I’m not. Just because there are plenty of good reasons for them to have moved doesn’t mean they would have, could have, or should have. You can’t say being located in a major hub city is a great reason to move when you are currently located a minimum 20-minute drive from an airport that has only a few meaningful flights a day. I’m willing to bet that their location (a park with a golf course in a small city) is more attractive to their visiting clients than a downtown high-rise.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Talent+ hater, but I’m also not a fan of this ‘we woulda/coulda/shoulda’ stuff.
I just hope the city takes this as an opportunity to have policies in place about selling park land/city land in the future. I also hope they are charging a premium for such land, since plenty of other businesses would have loved to have a chance at the land that Talent Plus now occupies.
