A Chat with Jeff Crandon

By: Mr. Wilson on October 29, 2005
I'm going to chat with Scrumpy Jacks owner Jeff Crandon on Monday morning. Lincolnite is seeing a ton of hits from people searching for information about Scrumpy Jacks, so I've offered him a couple options for spreading information about his restaurant until their website goes online. Stay tuned.

I’m glad to hear he’s actually going to put up a website.  The only place I’ve seen Scrumpy Jack’s aside from your blog is Strictly Business and that was by accident.  I usually just throw that away when it comes.  I’m going to have to get over there and try Scrumpy Jack’s in the near future.

That’s something I’ve always found maddening about the restaurants around here.  The annual cost to set up a simple website with a menu and directions is about $110.  It doesn’t have to be fancy.  When people search for info on a restaurant they are looking for information, not a fancy flash interface and virtual tours of the restaurant.  Every restaurant has at least one employee who can do some simple HTML.  Back when I was doing web stuff for a living I thought about starting a campaign aimed at local restaurants but went to school instead.

I’ve only had the restaurant blog up for a couple weeks and I’m already one of the top searches for a few local places.  I don’t think restaurant owners realize how much people use the internet when they’re deciding where to eat.
