9 South on O?

I missed it, but according to The Missus there was a note in Friday’s Ground Zero that the former Downtown Taco Bueno location has been acquired by the owner of 9 South Chargrill. Unfortunately, our Ground Zero is AWOL and I can’t find any such article on the Journal Star’s website. If any of you have Friday’s Ground Zero, could you take a look and post the info in the comments?

I read it.  They will be in the place where great wraps was.  Said menu would be nearly the same.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but I’m still surprised that Taco Bueno wasn’t more successful downtown. I thought it would capture a large portion of the post-bar drunk crowd; perhaps it needed a drive-thru? Lincolnites weren’t familiar enough with the chain?

Going further off-topic and to tie in with some previous posts, it’s my personal opinion that if D’Leon’s were to open a downtown location, it would be nearly certain to snap up a large portion of Amigos’ business.

D’Leon’s would slay downtown.  As for Bueno, not too often do I say “wow I could really go for some bland americanized and severely processed mex food” I doubt Taco Inn could survive downtown either.

It kinda irks me that LJS does not have the chargrill article on their site.  Searching there is a pain as well.

A drive-thru for the post-bar drunk crowd eh? wink

I was surprised at HOW FAST Taco Bueno was done dealing down there ... I don’t think the food there is that great, but I really like their nacho cheese (especially the loaded Queso).

Deleon’s on W O was ALWAYS busy....7am, 2pm, 9pm, 3am . It was unreal. I have a Deleon’s across from where I work that seems to be doing okay. I haven’t tried the 48th street one yet, though. If they were DT, that would be nuts (and safer since the bar crowd wouldn’t be driving) for them.

You’d think that if people had this much affinity for Taco Bueno they’d still be open.

The problem is most of us on here are to old to hang out down town on a Friday night.smile I know I got to the one out on North 27th.

The Venn diagram of “Lincolnite’s loyal band of readers and posters” and “Lincolnites who keep Val’s, Amigos (until they got expensive), and Runza (when their burgers sucked) open” probably doesn’t overlap all that much. wink
