I’m Awake!

By: Mr. Wilson on December 31, 2012
It's been quiet around here lately, hasn't it? I'll explain. Before I do that, let me say thank you to all of you who have sent messages wondering where the hell I'd gone. I received several notes, all of which asked if all was well and when (or if) I would return. It's very nice to know that my posts were missed. So why the absence? December was a rough month. Several events conspired against me: a health scare in the family; two dead pets; home renovations gone sour; writer's block; and general seasonal blahs. Over the many years that I've blogged here on Lincolnite I've gone through this sort of thing a few times. As far as I can tell, most small blogs hit this kind of bump every now and again. It seems to be normal and healthy. Last week brought some new clarity. In fact, I almost resumed blogged last Monday. I didn't, though, because I wanted to ensure I was really and truly ready. I didn't want to jump back in only to realize too late that I was still in my funk. I'm ready now. My head is clear. The family is healthy. Our house is almost put back together. And I have dozens of topics I want to write about. It's time to hop back in. In addition, I'm writing a book. Well, I think it will be a book. Maybe it will be a series of articles. I'm going into it with the idea that it'll become a book, but we'll see what comes out of it. I've begun writing a memoir of sorts about our experiences with foster care, and specifically the challenges we've experienced with Joey. I've told portions of the story to various audiences (including Ignite Lincoln 3). Every single time I tell the story -- EVERY time -- somebody tells me that I should write a book. Last week it finally dawned on me that they're right. I should write a book. And so I am. Thank you again for your support. It is wonderful to know how many friends and acquaintances I've made via this blog over the years.

Signs Part Deux

Remember that nasty signage on the Bryan LGH building at 40th and Pine Lake pointed out by Fletch a while back? I've received word that it has been changed to something much more tasteful. Huzzah! I like to think Fletch gets to take credit for the update. I haven't seen the new signage yet. I'll need to go do a drive-by. Have any of you noticed the new look?

Staples. Staples Everywhere.

After spending the weekend tearing out carpet and prepping for some new flooring to be put in, all I can think is image I try not to wish people ill, but I sure do hope carpet-layer purgatory requires them to remove and atone for every single staple they ever put in. Oh, and linoleum? Yeah that's a blast to remove. So ... how was your weekend?
